GREEN ERASMUS

Following the objectives of Erasmus 2021-2027, our university will endeavour to lower the carbon footprint of the Erasmus programme by encouraging carbon-neutral mobilities, that is, promoting environment-friendly ways of travelling and participating in the Erasmus Without Paper (EWS) project. Our university will also take other measures to successfully promote Green Erasmus. When possible, we recommend using environmentally friendly transportation methods instead of flying. To raise awareness, we are planning to introduce the practice of planting a tree for each successful mobility in the botanical garden of our university. This new practice will also raise awareness of environment-friendly activities among the participants of the Erasmus programmes. We aim to support awareness-raising activities about environmental and climate change challenges. We will introduce a university bicycle sharing system (Erasmus Bike) to promote environment-friendly transportation to our students. We will organize an Erasmus clean-up day (a litter collection event) near the university twice a year with ESN. Selective trash cans will be placed in the Erasmus office of the university. We will purchase recycled paper only for printing and we are committed to the abandonment of plastic as well as non-reusable materials. Sweepstakes for students will be organised via our Erasmus app to encourage students to share their ideas about protecting the environment. To coordinate student participation in these activities, an Erasmus Green Ambassador will be appointed each year. As a part of our yearly Erasmus conference, a special section will be organised on the topic of environmentally friendly activities and awareness-raising in cooperation with the City of Nyíregyháza.
