ACCOMMODATION

The CAMPUS STUDENT HOSTEL provides accommodation for students admitted to the University of Nyíregyháza as well as individual/group accommodation during the summer.

The four buildings of the dormitory have a 1068-bed capacity in total. In addition, the following services are available to our students: food store, post office, 24-hour security, doctor’s surgery, restaurant. In the basement of the building, there is a laundry and ironing room for the residents of the dormitory.

Campus Student Hostel Dormitory/Usage/Other fees 2020/2021 academic year – From 01 September 2020 until 30 June 2021 (for students who study at the University of Nyíregyháza)

  • Dormitory fee 2+2 (Two bedrooms with two beds in each) 2+2 persons 20 000 HUF/person/month
  • Dormitory fee 2+2 (Two bedrooms with two beds in each) 1+1 persons 30 000 HUF/person/month
  • Dormitory fee 2+2 (Two bedrooms with two beds in each) 1 person 40 000 HUF/person/month

Please apply for the dormitory only if you accept the following rules:

The dormitories accept male and both female students. Genders are not mixed in the rooms, but the common areas are mixed and there can be a male room next to a female room. This is totally common and accepted in Hungary.

You cannot request to be placed or not placed in the same room with a person of a certain nationality. The room distribution is done by the dormitory manager before you arrive in Nyíregyháza.

You cannot ask to be placed or not placed in the same room with someone of a given religion. You have decided to live in a foreign country. Part of this experience is to achieve cultural understanding, e.g. acceptance of the fact that someone may have a culture and religion different from yours. Everyone is, of course, allowed to practice their religion, but, at the same time, all are expected to respect the customs and religion of others.

In case of any problems or disagreements, you must accept the decision of the dormitory manager.

VISA

The International Relation Group will help you while obtaining visa.

All non-EU citizens must check in at the IO within 30 days after their arrival to Hungary.Book an appointment and ask your mentor to take you to the Immigration and Asylum Office:

Please take the following documents with you:

  1. Valid passport / national ID
  2. One passport-size photo
  3. Datasheet from their website (”Residence Permit for the Purpose of Studies” – filled in)
  4. Letter of Award (from Tempus Public Foundation)
  5. Student status certificate (from Registrar’s Office)
  6. Dormitory contract or (if you live in a rented flat) lease agreement + a copy of ownership certificate from landlord

Whenever you move to a new flat report your new address to the Immigrations office within 3 DAYS
