Student Mentors

Hello there! My name is Andor Nagy, and I’m a member of the mentor group too. I’m in my third year at university, taking the commercial pilot course. Most of my days are spent studying, and the little free time I have is usually spent with making or mixing music, and sports.  5 years ago, at the age of 16, I was an exchange student as well, and I had the chance to spend a year of my high school years in Malaysia, thanks to AFS. We had mentors there too, called “guardian angels”, who were all volunteers, and that was something I found so motivating, that after I returned home I also joined the AFS volunteer group. The enthusiasm was there, however, when university started I started having less and less time to take part in this kind of work, but I’m very glad that I can return to this field, and that I can work with exchange students again. In my opinion, the more diverse group we surround ourselves with, and the more hospitable we are towards people coming from places unknown to us, the better person we’ll become, with a much more open mind, and a more colorful personality. I really do hope, that I can make other people realize this too while I’m here, or that I can motivate people to take part in an exchange year. If you have any questions you’d like to ask me, don’t hesitate!

My name is Gábor Pálinkás I am 20 years old. I am currently in my second year at university as a Computer Science student. I live in Nyírmada and I go to school from here to Nyíregyháza and live in a student hostel. I had been very interested in programming since high school that is the reason I chose that profession. Also, I really love English, I got my B2 level complex language exam in high school. I had the opportunity to talk to lots of native English speakers and they said that my English is good which is the reason I think that my English is good. In my free time, I like to play the guitar I have been doing it for the past 3 years now. My biggest dream is to live and work abroad in my profession somewhere in Canada, USA, or England.

My name’s Tamás Orosz and I am a Computer Science student.

I had several reasons for applying to become a mentor for foreign students. Perhaps the most important was practising the spoken language, but I should also mention getting acquainted with new people. In my work, I would like to help foreign students integrate into the university’s community.

Hi everyone, I’m Enikő, a 3rd year student in teacher training. Since I’ve lived abroad alone too in the United States and in Spain, I know how challenging it can be, so I would like to make it easier for you. Hopefully my hometown will become your home too and your staying will be full of joy; I’m here to facilitate this.
