What is the Erasmus+ KA1 Programme?

The European Union Socrates programme started in 1995, which supported every level of the education from nursery to higher education. The Hungarian universities and colleges joined the programme and first applied in 1997.

The European Union unified all programmes under the Erasmus+ Programme from the period of 2014-2020. Within the Erasmus+ Programme, KA1 supports the mobility of students and staff at higher education institutions.

Erasmus+ KA1 programme at the University of Nyíregyháza

For nearly 30 years, the EU has funded the Erasmus programme, which has enabled over three million European students to spend part of their studies at another higher education institution or with an organisation in Europe. Erasmus+ brings such opportunities to all – students, staff, trainees, teachers, volunteers and more. It’s not just about Europe or Europeans either – with Erasmus+, people from all over the world can access opportunities.

The University of Nyíregyháza offers the following opportunities for incoming and outgoing students and staff:

Students (studies and training)

Studying abroad is a central part of Erasmus+ and has been shown to have a positive effect on later job prospects. It is also an opportunity to improve language skills, gain self-confidence and independence and immerse yourself in a new culture.Erasmus+ also offers the chance to combine studying abroad with a traineeship. Opportunities are available for students at Bachelor, Master or Doctoral levels. Erasmus+ can offer you support during your period of study abroad: whether this is in an Erasmus+ Programme country or in an Partner country.

The University of Nyíregyháza accepts students for study mobility from the partner universities, check our updated  Erasmus+ Course Catalogue for the available courses in English. To apply, please visit our Online Application menu.

We comply with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education

The Erasmus+ strategy of the University of Nyíregyháza is in accordance with the contents of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education, it wants to fulfil the duties described and designated therein while implementing all the tasks related to mobility activities. Our institution endeavours to create realistic conditions for more Europen and international cooperation in the coming years. While operating the Erasmus+ programme, we provide transparency, continuous information and equal opportunities to everybody who wish to participate in it.

The institutional Erasmus+ application has to be in accordance with the European standards. Every participating country provides the support for its institutions, which has to be accessible to all students. The level of the scholarship is decided by Brussels . This support does not always cover accommodation and living expenses. The purpose of this funding is mainly to cover the educational costs. Note: Erasmus+ students do not have to pay tuition fees in the receiving institution. Due to the differences in the support given to the students, it is advisable to check before departure details regarding the expenses for the length of the stay.

When a higher education institution wishes to participate in the programme, it has to accept the conditions of ECHE. After a successful application, the university or college will advertise this possibility among all students and choose the best candidates. The study period is minimum 3 – maximum 12 months and the practical period is minimum 2 – maximum 12 months. The management of the foreign studies for the selected students is done by the coordinating Erasmus+ unit of the sending institution (e.g. visa, residence permit, study programme, accommodation possibilities).

Things to be done before departure

  • applying for visa (if applicable),
  • checking the validity of passport, or other ID documents
  • making travel and insurance arrangements,
  • submitting the application form (1 August, 1 December)
  • one photo for the student card.
