One of the forthcoming goals of the Research Group is launching a series of lectures aimed at a broader public.

The Research Group academic workshop emerged in 2017 under the auspices of the Institute of Philosophy and History, University of Nyíregyháza with the purpose of studying various aspects of political and religious extremisms and international terrorism of the present times and the recent past.

Development of the Research Group’s domestic and international relations is in progress, especially with the Extremisms, Religious Extremisms Ludovika Research Group.

One of the key aspects of the Institute’s research profile is that the prospective research results shall be valuable for the citizens of the given region and contribute to the activity of the University of Nyíregyháza as knowledge centre.

One of the goals of the Research Group is to broaden its international network. 

5. Description and results of research (in detail, max. 1500 characters)

Research on the medieval settlement patterns of Nyírbátor; study of the medieval history of the territory of Berettyóújfalu; study of aristocracy and nobility: writing social historical “total biographies” of count Károlyi István, count Károlyi György and Luby Géza as well as the monograph of the Vécsey family.

The Research Group has close professional links to Institute of Partium Regional Studies, Partium Christian University and the Kolozsvár based Transylvanian Museum Association.

Writing chapters to the volumes I-II of A történeti Szatmár vármegye, evaluating of characteristics of the market towns’ development in North-East Hungary, publishing sources related to the Vécsey family. Máramaros monograph of Dr. Gulyás László Szabolcs as   well as habilitation thesis of dr. habil. Zsoldos Ildikó (Hatalmi törekvések és politikai platformok Szatmárban az 1905-1906-os kormányzati krízis idején) were published by the Transylvanian Museum Association.

The main fields of the Group’s activity are study and social-historical interpretation the social processes of various historical periods.

One of the goals of the Research Group is to broaden its international network.

Since its establishment, the Research Group regularly organises academic conferences and workshops dedicated to social sciences: “Walls and Dividing Lines in History” (2012), “Waco / Myths of Fear” (2013), “Information and Society” (2013), “Cold Cases, Disputes in the Hungarian and World History” (2014), “Marginality, Marginal Places and Situations” (2016), “Women in Christianity” (2017), “Furtive Sexuality – Concealed Identity” (2017); “Great Consequences of the Great War” (2018), “Drugs in Time and Space” (2018). Scholars of Hungarian and foreign universities, archives and museums participate frequently in these events.

Researchers of the Group take part in other social-historical projects as well: HSRF (OTKA) studies, Hungarian Atlas of Historic Towns Research Group, Károlyi Research Group of the National Archives of Hungary.

Presentations of the conferences have been published in proceedings (e.g. Falak és választóvonalak a történelemben. Nyh., 2014.; Az információ mikrotörténetéhez. Információtörténelem. Bp., 2015.) and in journals (Erdélyi Múzeum, Világtörténet, Médiakutató, Jel-Kép, Történelmi Szemle, Aetas, Századok, Gesta, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Beregi Szemle, etc.).
