4. Research objectives (in 1-2 sentences)

The research includes an analysis of certain features of the business sector in regard to economic and social processes and an evaluation of the role and impact of this sector on the economy.

5. Description and results of research (in detail, max. 1500 characters)

The aim of my research is to examine territorial disparities in terms of enterprises and their causes and influencing factors (spacial processes), i.e. to assess the spacial dimension from the perspective of the business sector at a micro, macro and meso-level. Research into the above fields allows developing a comprehensive view of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, which presents the economic and social characteristics of the region’s recent past, the reasons why it is lagging behind in terms of development and the possible routes of improvement.

My results:

I have developed the Regional Enterprise Spacial Structural Model, which aims to measure the impact of enterprise structure on territorial development in a selected area. My model is a novelty in that it gives priority to the spatial structure characteristics of the business sector in the territorial study of socio-economic processes.

3. Research area and keywords of research

My field of examination is concerned with some sectors of economy, as agriculture, trade or similar economical terms. My aim is to map, as precisely as possible, research the relationship of enterprises and their owners to information technology, innovative information technology methods and ERP systems.

4. Research objectives (in 1-2 sentences)

The relevant Hungarian and international literature dealing with the interrelatedness of agriculture, agrarian economy and ITC besides my own research convinced me about the importance of the use of information systems in this field as well. The enhancement of digitisation and helping its widespread use could make the management of Hungarian agrarian enterprises more competitive and effective.

5. Description and results of research (in detail, max. 1500 characters)

In my dissertation, the ITC characteristics of Hungarian enterprises using double-book keeping with the help of a questionnaire research was examined. The focus of the survey was the digital penetration and the use of integrated management system of Hungarian agricultural companies. The area of research of the dissertation could naturally be extended. Besides the fact that it would be necessary to scan through the layer of individual entrepreneurs and primary producers, other sectors of economy could be involved in the investigation, since it is the interest of national economy to create and strengthen an efficient and productive entrepreneurial class which is able to navigate in the digital world.

4. Research objectives (in 1-2 sentences)

I am currently examining the situation of the Roma: segregation, effective integration in education. My next topic is the political legal background of migration, the existence of multiculturalism.

5. Description and results of research (in detail, max. 1500 characters)

In the case of Roma minorities, the issue of dual identity poses a serious problem of interpretation. Although a Hungarian citizen, they still live as second-class students and workers, below the standard of living. Sanctions and rigor in legislation cannot be the right way to go in this situation, and it would be good to find the tools that provide satisfactory solutions to these problems.

3. Research area and keywords of research

1. The effect of agricultural subsidies on efficiency and productivity of farms.

2. Regional differences in multifactor productivity in Hungary

4. Research objectives (in 1-2 sentences)

 1. This field investigates the relationship between agricultural subsidies and efficiency/productivity of farms. Traditional economic theory states that agricultural subsidies distort incentives and reduce productivity. However, some recent theoretical studies have challenged these arguments and say that subsidies may enhance agricultural productivity. We review the empirical literature and summarize the results of recent empirical studies that investigated the subsidies-efficiency/productivity link

2. The development of the efficiency and productivity of Hungarian agriculture following the EU-accession has been analysed by several authors in recent years. However, there is a limited number of papers concerning the productivity and efficiency of regions. The aim is to analyse multi factor productivity (MFP) and convergence among Hungarian regions. For purposes of MFP analysis Törnquist-Theil index is used, convergence is examined through ß-convergence and coefficients of variation. Data from the Regional Economic Accounts for Agriculture was used.

5. Description and results of research (in detail, max. 1500 characters)

 1. This literature review showed that results of empirical papers are mixed, there is no clear evidence concerning the effect of subsidies on efficiency/productivity. Earlier papers usually found negative effect. One reason for this that earlier studies have focussed on coupled subsidies. However, several studies showed that the introduction of decoupling with the 2003 CAP-reform changed the effect that subsidies have on technical efficiency.

2. In case of MFP investigation, five of the seven regions showed growth, with only a slight decrease was in Northern Hungary and the Northern Great Plain. The value of MPA was the highest in Central Transdanubia in 2005 and 2013, and the lowest in Northern Hungary. Two regions – Southern and Western Transdanubia – changed locations between 2005 and 2013.

Convergence was investigated by two ways. First, theoretical background of ß-convergence was used and graphically depicted the initial level of MFP and the average annual growth rate of MFP. Second, the coefficient of variation was used to investigate the convergence of the regions' MFPs. Both methods refer to divergence.
